I have, from new, a droning noise in the cabin. I hope someone else has experienced this, and can assist with the solution. I'll attach the Word file that I made to acquaint the dealer with everything I have tried and noted. The Conti proContact tire profile (see attachment) is very strange and may, or may not, be related. It was noted from delivery, and is not due, as the dealer suggests, from my having over-inflated the tires. Anything that anyone can think of that isn't documented in the attachment would be much appreciated. Thanks.

New pro txs have a long break in for that drone to go away. Mine took about 6-7k miles to disappear completely!

Thanks for that thought: only 5500 miles of drone to go! Another suggestion gratefully received was to tilt the mirrors to alter the airflow on them. I also see numerous openings in the front 'grill' dressing; one of which allows air into the wheel-well area. I am going to block all of them in turn, to see if anything stops it (and post accordingly). Thanks again.

I would be very interested to hear your findings! I feel that the car overall has got quieter as I have driven more. Or may be I’m used to it now!! But I clearly remember the tire drone for sure!

Apologies for the long delay in following up. I believe that the following are true: The cabin noise IS body resonance; the excitation of the resonance is caused by the tires; The tires engage with the road surface in such a way that the excitation of resonance is more pronounced on rougher surfaces than on smoother; I expect therefore that the tread wearing down, as suggested, could lessen the excitation; I have no simple way of knowing whether a change of tire model would stop the problem entirely (unlikely) of reduce it to bearable levels. There are models of Conti tires that are sold as being quiet, by way of construction / inserted material. Whether this refers to reducing the normal sound of tread against road surface, or a way of preventing the vibration reaching the car body I don't know. The low profile / high pressure inflation of tires on the SEL are likely to affect the resonance much more than the standard tires / rim size. I believe this because the SEL rim / tire size / inflation is much closer to "solid rubber" old time motoring than a taller sidewall tire with lower pressure would be. The latter would absorb vibrations much better than the low profile tires.. Input welcome, especially from anyone having the standard Arteon rims .
